Mission
“We advance educational equity by building long-term partnerships with students, families, communities, and schools to create experiences outside of school that inspire the joy of learning.”
Students begin their journey with Horizons in Pre-Kindergarten, and return year after year through eighth grade. As children grow, our out-of-school time academic and enrichment programs provide a safe and encouraging space for students to learn new skills, explore their interests, take healthy risks, and achieve their goals.
Teachers, staff, and volunteers develop powerful long-term relationships with students and families, and establish an enduring community of support. Using project-based and social-emotional learning to educate the whole child, Horizons National Chicago students are exposed to a holistic realm of academic, cognitive, and identity development, as well as physical and mental health support. At Horizons, students “learn by doing,” and become inspired as they explore reading, math, science, music, arts, swimming, and more. Given these opportunities, Horizons students thrive.
